Bridging communities through the power of broadcasting.
WTOR 770AM is more than a radio frequency. We are a meeting place — a medium that bridges the gaps between people, communities, interests, information, and resources. Our purpose is to give voice to the rich, multicultural fabric of our listeners and to celebrate the cultures, languages, and traditions that make our communities strong.
Every programme we broadcast, every conversation we host, and every song we play is offered in service of one goal: to inform, entertain, and uplift the diverse communities we are privileged to serve.
Mrs. Arifa Muzaffar
Arifa Muzaffar was born in Mian Channo, Pakistan. The youngest of five sisters and one brother, she was raised in a supportive and loving family — her father a practising doctor, her mother a devoted homemaker. She received her education in Pakistan, completing a Bachelor's degree in Botany and Chemistry, followed by a Master's in Special Education.
In 1995, Mrs. Muzaffar immigrated to Canada with her late husband, Muzaffar Ali. She began her professional life in the insurance industry and quickly earned recognition for her work. Yet her true passion had always been service to the community.
Building on a media career that had begun in Pakistan, Mrs. Muzaffar launched her Canadian broadcasting journey in Toronto in 1998, hosting a live talk show on a local radio channel. From those early days, she devoted her energy to enriching her community through electronic media — delivering programming primarily in Urdu and Punjabi, and creating a platform where the voices of South Asian Canadians could be heard.
For more than two and a half decades, Mrs. Muzaffar has been a tireless campaigner for unity, discipline, and togetherness within her communities. Through WTOR 770AM, she provides a safe, unbiased, and welcoming platform where thousands of listeners share their experiences, celebrations, concerns, and opportunities. She is, in the words of those who know her best, a pillar of strength and a profile of optimism whose work enriches lives daily.
"Your voice is our strength."
Nearly three decades ago, with the endless support of my beloved late husband Muzaffar Ali, I began my career as a broadcaster. We started humbly, working tirelessly with dedication and devotion. Our efforts were matched at every step by our loyal listeners, our communities, our sponsors, and our well-wishers.
Muzaffar Jee was an IT professional who stood by me through every challenge. Together we managed the administration, the operations, and every small detail that goes into running a station. There were nights when he would still be at the studio in the early hours of the morning, doing whatever needed to be done.
To everyone who has walked this journey with us — thank you. Your belief in our work has been the driving force behind our passion for broadcasting. While broadcasting is our business, we have always strived to serve and uplift our community to the very best of our ability.
